![]() ![]() Killing as many enemies on your turn as possible is the best way to swing the action economy in your favor, if you have the opportunity to kill several smaller enemies over just putting a bit of damage on the big boss in the room, DO IT. Sometimes the best way to make sure the enemy wastes their action economy is to barricade an entrance, throw out a lure, freeze or stun them, basically do anything you can to make the enemies waste their turn trying to escape or get to you, without actually letting them hit you. The simplest way to ensure this is to kill as many enemies on your turn as as you can, however this is not always possible. To put it simply, the best way to win is to stop the enemies from using more actions points on their turn. ![]() The odds of you successfully clearing a dungeon dramatically increase if you spend your action economy reducing the enemy's ability to use actions on their turn. Enemies also have this action economy, they can spend their actions on movement, attacks, or opening a door (enemies don't interact with other objects). In Demeo, on your turn, you get two actions, which can each be spent on movement, a single attack/spell card, or interaction with an object or door. Demeo has been heavily inspired by dungeon crawlers like this, and has a a simple but effective action economy system similar to this. You'll need them.Ĭombat in Dungeons & Dragons and other tabletop RPGs has something called an " action economy", which refers to the limits of work or moves a character can make on their turn. Play smart, watch your HP bar, and buy health potions before starting each new level. Don't be the sucker that runs headfirst into the unseen dungeon without your team, you will be the reason the party wipes a few turns later. If any of your party members fall below half HP, they are at risk of being one-hit down to zero within the next turn, and if a player is goes down (reduced to zero hitpoints), that means the party has to spend their next turn using valuable movement and action points to just get them back on their feet, instead of killing enemies. This game's difficulty is completely based on brute force - if the enemy can throw more damage numbers your way then you can handle in a turn, things will quickly go south. Monitoring and maintaining your HP is one of the most basic but most important rules in dungeon crawlers like Demeo. Before we even get into the intricacies of each of the four classes you can play as in Demeo, let's go over some basic combat strategy first, point by point. As a veteran dungeon crawler RPG aficionado and fanatical Dungeons & Dragons player and DM, I'm here to help you not only make it to that final boss room, but wipe each level without losing a single party member. How on earth can you hope to beat the final boss if you can't even clear a level one dungeon?įear not, weary adventurer. You revive one of them, but it's no good, and in minutes your entire party is down, and you're left staring at the endgame screen wondering just how it all went wrong so quickly. You open the last door in front of you, and suddenly all hell breaks loose as a swarm of spiders, rats and goblins burst out from the door and crash into your party. If you've already played a few rounds of Demeo, you'll have noticed this game is.not easy or forgiving.Įxample scenario: You're playing and your party may have beaten all but one or two rooms in the dungeon, and are feeling confident that you'll clear this level within the next five minutes.
